The Gist of The Book
This is a book that gives a clear picture of how the body is closely linked to the spiritual and emotional aspects of your mind. It seeks to explain how a good number of health issues you struggle with could be caused by the way you currently think and feel.
It says that it is the way you paint your self image with your thoughts that determines how peaceful and healthy you are. The way you think about things and handle them goes a long way to making you the person you currently are with the level of health conditions you currently have.
The experience we get of life comes from the thoughts we entertain and how we talk as well as feel about ourselves.
In short, according to the way I understood it, I would say that this book is aimed at making people aware that their minds and what they allow to blossom there is what brings all the things they have going on in their lives, be they good or bad.
The author of this is Louise Lynn Hay, who sadly passed about a year ago. She was a fairly famed author of motivational books and she was the one who founded Hay House.
She was born in Los Angeles where she lived with her parents, the late Henry John Lunney and Veronica Chwala.
In an interview she did with New York Times, Lynn said that she went through a rough childhood especially after her mother remarried. Her stepfather was quite a violent man and would often abuse her mother, and at times her too.
She was also raped by her neighbour when she was only 5, followed by dropping out of school when she was 15. She got pregnant and put her baby up for adoption. After that she relocated to Chicago then to New York where she grew to her success.
She did go through many more challenges like marrying a successful businessman and then being left for another woman and others. It was within this period she came to know of the First Religious Science where she was able to learn about the mind and its ability to change anyone’s life completely.
Louise has read many books in this subject from influential authors such as Florence Scovel Shinn and Ernest Holmes who have talked about the power of positive thinking in healing the body.
She said that she also had the full experience of the power she talks about including the instance she was able to get over cancer using the methods she reveals in the book.
What The Book Talks About
Here, the book stresses on the power everyone has to heal their lives and the ability to make good use of the power.
Louise says that often times, people think and feel very helpless but in actual sense they are not.
The problem is that they are not using the power they have of their minds the right way which is why they give in to helplessness instead of owning up to the situation and working with their mental power to solve the issues they have.
The books also talks about how people have lived almost half their lives making constant criticism of themselves, either consciously or subconsciously and how this has greatly affected their lives.
Folks are encouraged to try and be more appreciating and approving of their lives in order to move forward.
Also, the book introduces quite an interesting concept about learning how to handle the things that we are involved in on a daily basis. Things like handling finances, parenthood, sustaining healthy relationships, understanding your true self worth and having self esteem.
It also delves into the greatest universal law of love. The need to love ourselves and fulfilling the expectation of the universe through love and being grateful for all you have sop that you can get more.
Understanding love and getting to have it bubble out from within you only requires you to improve they way you think and the self beliefs you have created for yourself. When you do this, you will notice how much you have been missing out on.
What I loved about it is the part where loving and finding value in yourself is compared to the way you feel when you are in love. That great feeling that illuminates every aspect of your life. This is what we should all feel when we truly understand how to love ourselves.

Based on the vast knowledge and experience I have had with the brain, I would say I agree with the author about the ability to change your life by first changing your mind and the way you do things. Success and happiness are all in the mind.
And they are a result of the thoughts you allow in your mind, the feelings that come from that and the actions you decide to take as a result of the thoughts.
I also love the way she talks about truly knowing to love yourself which should be enough to make you happy and peaceful.
Believing is a key thing here if you are to be successful in putting all the concepts you learn from the book into practice. You need to purpose to live a good, healthy life and take all the necessary steps to get there.
And that is all there is to the book.
