Introverts are most often really misunderstood. People are so quick to judge them off the fact that they do not speak or socialize with others as much.
However, one thing you should know is that their nature is just unique from that of an extrovert and that they are just as human as you are and therefore, should be accepted as they are.
Some of the misconceptions that have been weaved around introverts include, they lack emotions, are shy, dislike talking to others and they are poor public speakers among others.
However, all this is not true and that’s why you need to read the book, “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” to gain more insight on how introverts operate.
My Quiet: the power of introverts book review will help you gain the most essential information on it such as key details of the book, the gist of the book, some meat of it, how it compares to other books on the subject, pro’s and con’s, where to get the book and my final thoughts on the book.
With that said, let’s get started on this book’s review.

The Gist of Quiet, the Power of Introverts Book
This is a book that helps you see how people view introverts as well as extroverts, and how they all view themselves.
Susan argues that because of how people have undervalued the capabilities and traits of introverts, there is waste of energy, talent and also happiness and goes quite deep in this area.
The book is balanced out because the author looks at both the extroverts and introverts, explaining the differences of each and also offers advice on both.
The author of this really insightful book is called Susan Cain. I learned that she is an American lecturer and writer.
She has also co-founded a mission based company called Quiet Revolution, that has initiatives in areas such as the workplace, lifestyle and children.
Her interest in writing in the area of introversion was as a result of her personal difficulty in public speaking so she knows this stuff quite well.
All I can say is that you will be wowed by the kind of information that is in this book. The fact that she is driven by experience and passion assures you of deeply helpful stuff all the more.
Some Meat Of The Book
Susan starts off the book by looking at how the media has helped frame the western cultural model of outgoing, socially, highly energetic individuals and also looks at the social history of extroversion.
She then moves to use both historical as well as current events and empirical research to present environmental and behavioural influences on temperament and behavior. This is a great way to illustrate her conclusions in the book.
In part three of the book, she looks at the approach of soft power in social settings as well as cultural variation in personality ideals.
Here, she goes deep into the aspect of expressing yourself the right way, as an introvert and how to be mindful of cultural differences between yourselves.
Next, she presents rich examples to further support her explanations in the book.
She also offers you ideas that will help you apply the information in the book in real life. The last chapters have very catchy titles that will have you glued to the book and also have life changing advice.
Some of the insights I gained from the book about introverts include:
* Introverts prefer to dedicate their social energies to their family, their close friends and their colleagues.
* They love things such as physical beauty, music, nature, they also experience pretty strong emotions such as fear, joy and sorrow.
* We should not look at introversion as something that should be cured.
* We should all stay true to our own nature, no matter what it is and how people view it.
Honestly, the book has a lot of useful information to offer. I have barely scratched the surface of all the value you will get from it. I do encourage you to read the whole book for yourself to get all the juicy stuff.
Quiet Book Vs The Introvert Advantage by Marti Olsen
The Introvert Advantage is another wonderful book that teaches introverts how to thrive in an extrovert world.
It also makes them aware of their inner potential and makes them stop believing that there could be something wrong with them and start embracing who they actually are.
It may be slightly different from the quiet book because it handles the introverts only but I have to say there is quite some useful advice and tips offered in the book.
Personally, I find both the books to make a good combination of helping you understand the introverted lifestyle and how to work with it as well as how the extroverts do their thing and what to take from that, that will make you a better person true to yourself.
Pro’s and Con’s Of The Book
* The book is well written and is thought provoking.
* The book has been written as a result of passion and experience in the area.
* A great book on extroverts vs introverts
Some people find the book to be a bit too long
However, I have to say that the content has been explained very well and everything is really useful. The best advice I can offer you is to try and read a couple of chapters a day, but not all of it all at once.
This will help you get the ideas of the author well enough and also give you time to do other things.

As I conclude, I would like you to remember that the book covers areas like:
