We all crave love and affection from those around us. Unfortunately for us, we are not always guaranteed of that because at some point in our lives we tend to feel like we are experiencing loneliness and rejection.
We have to be careful with how we live through these feelings because failing to do this can cause so many issues in our lives.
They can cause us to hate, look down on and even destroy ourselves. However, it shouldn’t be this way because there is something, a great deal of it that we can do about it.
So, what exactly can we do when we experience these disheartening feelings? How can we live a life of constantly feeling loved and appreciated by those around us?
The book am about to review will help you with that.
It’s called, “The Uninvited Book”, which helps you overcome rejection and loneliness.
In my uninvited book review, I will be looking at the most essential areas of the book like the gist of it, some more meat of the book, comparison with another great book on this topic, the pro’s and con’s, where best to buy the book and my final thoughts on the book.
So, let’s roll our sleeves and get right into it.

The Gist of the Uninvited Book
This is a Christian-based book for women (and I think for men too) that helps them know that they are always loved and cared for, to get them to feel that way even when they feel lonely or rejected.
This insightful book has 16 chapters which illuminate the personal experiences by the author on what she did when she experienced the same feelings of rejection or loneliness.
She also uses Bible verses and stories to shed more light on how to handle rejection. And I have to say that the verses are emotionally encouraging as well as assuring.
The stories are also very relatable to what you often feel so you will connect with the book very well.
The author of this book is called Lysa TerKeurst. I found out that she the lresident of Proverbs 31 Ministries, speaker and author.
She lives with her family in Charlotte, North Carolina and loves to glorify God through her life and family.
With her Christian background and her speaking from her own experience, you are sure to get quite some value off of this book.
Some More Meat Of The Book
Allow me to talk about a few aspects of the book that I found interesting.
But I won’t be giving away all the good stuff of the book because I would really want you to read the book to get the advice and wisdom from the author herself because she knows how to put things in their proper perspective more than I do. 🙂
The author starts the book by urging the readers to be honest with themselves. This I feel is important in dealing with rejection.
She stresses that you have to accept that you are experiencing the feelings so as to heal. This is the first step to healing yourself on the inside.
The author has also given a deep description of how rejection hurts people. She has gone probably deeper than what you have been thinking it affects you.
She then shows you quite clearly that you do get emotional security from God, always, and shows you how to ask and feel the heart warming security during difficult moments.
You will love how honestly Lysa shares her personal experiences with you on rejection. She explains the things that she went through that are most likely what you are also going through.
And with her practical solutions, you should be able to overcome these discouraging feelings for good.
There are also sections of prayer in the book that are also very helpful as they give you words to use to pray that will give you strength and comfort.
My major personal takeaways from the book include:
* Our expectations from other people are the cause of our disappointments even though we need people in our lives
* The more intimacy we have with God, the more our identity in him is secured
* Cooperating with God’s grace equals to loving God
* Rejection will cause us not to see the best of who we are because it makes us focus on what has been negatively said to us about us
* You are not who people say you are
* Feelings should not dictate you and you are capable of self control
* Decisions made today are very important and they matter to your future
Quite frankly, there is a whole lot value packed in here for you. I have only given you a snippet of what is inside.
The Uninvited Book Vs Living Beyond Your Feelings by Joyce Meyer
Living Beyond Your Feelings is another wonderful book on the same topic that looks at the many emotions we experience and how we can manage our reactions to them. It really comes in handy with emotional mastery.
Although slightly different from The Uninvited book, I find it quite useful in helping with overcoming the feelings of loneliness and rejection.
I believe the two books would make a very good combination of knowing how to overcoming the feelings that bring us down through the Bible, the graces from God and through our own personal efforts directed by the authors.
Pros and Con’s Of The Book
* The book is very relatable as you can understand yourself through the author’s experiences.
* The style of writing is interesting and will keep you reading
* The book educates more on living a life connected to God at a deeper level
The book is targeted to people who believe in God and the Bible.
But if you are open minded person, you will see the need of reading the book as there are lots of valuable teachings that come with the book.
