What It Is
This is a book that helps you create the life you have always wanted.
Yes, there is an art for making shit happen. It takes a special something to get that idea that ha been swirling around in your head for months, years, or perhaps even decades, out into the world.
So often we sit on the sidelines of life, watching others catapult their dreams into reality, while we
procrastinate by putting off our dreams until tomorrow — yet sometimes, tomorrow never comes.
This book will help you with all of that. It will help you in making your dreams become a reality.
Sean Whalen is a father, entrepreneur, public speaker, podcaster, business coach, and the founder of LIONS NOT SHEEP.
Sean’s viral social media posts have been engaged with over 600,000,000 times, and he speaks at business and marketing events with the likes of Gary Vaynerchuk, sharing his story of success, divorce, suicide, and how telling the truth both personally and in business not only saved his life but gave him the opportunity to build a globally recognized company.
Sean coaches and advises CEO’s, business owners, and entrepreneurs on scaling their business, growing a tribe on social media, and how establishing a work/home life balance will significantly boost the bottom line.
Sean is a hunter, gun enthusiast, cigar connoisseur and when not racing his off-road truck or riding his horses he can be found snuggling and playing games with his 3 kids at home in Utah.
What The Book Talks About
The book basically offers you advise on how to really for go things you have always wanted to achieve .
Lets now look at some:
10 Steps to Making Shit Happen
If you’re been feeling stuck or frozen because you don’t know how you’re going to achieve something, or because you’re overwhelmed by how much there is to learn and know and do… then you should try and consider this points.
1. Take a deep breath and relax –it’s not that serious.
2. Remind yourself that you’re in the right place , exactly where you are right now.
3. Write down your desired end result (one or more).
4. For each end result you want, make a list of all the things you can think of right now that you could do to move in that direction. It doesn’t matter if the steps are out of order, totally random, or make no practical sense; just write everything down that comes to you.
5. Choose one of the steps/actions you listed and do it right now.
6. When that action is done, do the next one . (Whichever one pops out to you as the one to do next.)
7. Repeat steps 5-6.
8. Add any new inspired actions and ideas to the lis t as you go.
9. Act on as many of the actions and ideas from your list as you can.
10. Trust that any specific HOW you need to get you to that final end result will show up as a result of you doing steps 5-9.
Reasons why we don’t make shit happen:
If you’re uncertain something will lead to the result you want or expect it can be difficult to commit to it.
There’s a constant stream of doubt fuelling excuses and less of a desire to persist (which is one of the secrets of success ).
To overcome uncertainty model yourself after other people who have achieved what you desire. Read autobiographies and story-driven accounts to understand their mindset, the process they took and the challenges they faced.
2.Misuse of Negativity
a constructive use of negativity goes beyond just productivity. According to The Law of Attraction focusing on negativity will bring that into your life. And to a certain extent I agree.
But negativity can be used constructively as long as you don’t dwell on it. The majority of the time you should focus on what inspires you and your burning desire, but whenever you feel particularly unmotivated, ask yourself “What will happen if I don’t do this?” See an unhealthy you if you don’t go for that run, or an unfulfilled you if you choose not to follow your passion.
3.Lack of Ambition
Everyone has ideas about ambition setting goals that are ambitious are more likely to be acted upon.
Going back to that running example, there are countless stories about non-runners who sign up for a marathon months in advanced, and then magically in that time they go from a couch potato to a competitive runner.
Us human folk adapt to the goals we set. When we set a small goal there’s a lack of excitement. Sure, I could set a goal to walk down the street and back, but that’s boring.
Make it a 10km jog or 400m sprint though and suddenly it’s something to work towards. There’s a chance of failure so it becomes a gamble.
What is tricky though is setting goals that aren’t too beyond you while remaining ambitious.
Consistent failure to attain an ambitious goal will eventually leave you unmotivated and back in your old routine. Be ambitious in the sense that there’s a chance of failure, but you feel confident of eventual achievement.
Burning desires aren’t always obvious though. They get drowned out in a sea of distractions – trying to do or consume too much.
Minimalism isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine, but at least understand and reaffirm the amazingness of having and doing less. And when I say “do less” I’m not talking about being idle, but cutting down on the quantity of activities you do, so each one can be done with deliberate focus.
Cut out everything in your life that doesn’t fulfill you, giving you room to get back to the basics and do the things that you know you should be doing.
Excuses are the next hold up. For everyone reason you should do something there are 2 far fetched reasons, that you can easily convince yourself to be true, that you shouldn’t do it.
The only effective and long lasting way to get rid of excuses is accountability.
Create a mastermind group or find a friend who has similar goals to remain accountable for your actions.
