What The Book Talks About

Harvey has compiled in this book a daily meditation and inspiration for how to achieve more. For each day there is an inspirational quote from an author or leader, some questions to stimulate your thinking and a lesson which often requires you to do something.

There are 365 such pages, one for each day of a year. You can start any time as they are not tied to any dates.
While you could sit down and read this book through its real value is to use it one page per day for a year.

Harvey challenges the reader to move beyond where they are now in life, even if they feel stuck, and to expand your potential and accomplish more.

Each day has a lesson and an assignment. Some of the assignments are generalized, challenging you to think in a different way or to interact with others in a different way. Other assignments are more specific challenging you to do one thing differently.

Some lessons from the book:

Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

Dreaming is free. The secret to a fulfilled life is to engage in more beginnings than endings. Explore. Discover. Experience.

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” — Anatole France

There are two cardinal sins from which all others spring: Impatience and Laziness.
The contemporary music of Tina Turner might make you feel powerful and energized. South African music provides a mind-boggling choice of styles from folk tunes to jive. Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony has the magical ability to transport you to a country scene and trap you in a driving rain storm.

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

Your life is rich with possibility, and you are the only one who can discover the opportunities that will allow you to live your dreams. You must open your eyes to what can be, envision the life you want, and take the steps to get yourself to that place.

Are you making choices that limit you or choices that nurture you?Change is not a one-time explosion of opportunity. It is a slow burning fire that needs to be tended constantly.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. Are you willing to have a little faith? What is faith? Sometimes it is described as a strong belief in something for which there is no proof. If that’s the case, then faith is exactly what you need right now.

Just be yourself. It’s good to receive compliments, and it’s even better to give them.

Today, your assignment is to observe your choices. Look at every decision you make, from the food you eat to the time you spend on various tasks, to the people you choose to hang out with. Are you making choices that limit you or choices that nurture you?
