The Gist of the Book and More on The Author
This is a fitness book that is aimed at teaching fitness enthusiasts the best way to lose weight through natural balance and self understanding. It promotes the idea of getting better at eating healthy as opposed to starving yourself or doing diets every so often.
The book encourages people to learn how to control their eating habits by eating everyday and slowly adjusting their eating ways to the point they feel good about their bodies. This, according to the book, is what brings natural weight loss.
The book pretty much focuses on how someone looking to shed weight can do it efficiently by knowing the kind of body they want to have and getting their eating plans right without having to put the body under stressful conditions.
The book was written by two intelligent women fitness-wise, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch.
Evelyn is a dietitian who has received quite a number of awards in this area and who also practices counselling people on nutrition in California. She also helps people come out of eating disorders that are ruining their lives.
She has held a couple of fitness positions including being a spokeswoman for the well known American Dietetic Association for a period of about 6 years and in Good Morning America she was the nutrition expert.
She has also had 6 books published with one of them titled, Healthy Homestyle Cooking, being a best seller and getting over a million copies worth of sales. So I would say her fitness advice is worth paying attention to.
On the other hand, we have Elyse Resch who has been a nutrition therapist in a private institution in Beverly Hills for more than 2 decades now. She has worked with people who wanted to overcome their struggles with eating disorders, those who wanted to learn and master intuitive eating as well as preventive nutrition.
She’s also got a certification on dealing with child as well as adolescent obesity. She is part of the advisory board of the Healthy Dining Publications and a member of the American Dietetic Association.
Some More Meat of the Book
The books has mentioned a few quite valuable lessons on learning to accept and respect your genetic body set up. It actually gives an analogy on this by relating to a man who wears size 8 shoes and how he can’t force himself into a size 6 shoe and still be comfortable.
The book has explained the way to know your genetic body set up and how to work with it to achieve the kind of body you would want to have, which is much easier than trying to beat yourself down with other people’s eating and workout plans.
It also stresses on the need to give up the diet mentality that keeps you tied up to diets which only make you suffer all the more while trying to reach your weight loss milestones. The book has given a pretty good approach of eating called Intuitive eating.
The approach is based on eating naturally as you do, and with time, you start to cut off some of the habits you have taken up for eating so that you eat every so often but then you make what you eat to be in line with the weight loss goals you want to achieve.
This come in handy as it won’t feel like you trying to loose weight but trying to get into the comfortable feeling that you are eating right and you are noticing that you are losing weight.
The book has really made it clear that if you are focusing on loosing weight with it as the main goal, it is going to be very difficult for you to achieve the goal, but if you focus on the feeling of satisfaction in eating just enough for you, you will come to realise that weight loss becomes naturally easy.
Other sections you are going to find quite interesting in the book are:
* How to follow the ten principles of intuitive eating, step by step
* How you should feel your feeling without having to use food to get there
* How to establish a good relationship with food which will then convert to a good relationship with your body
* How the three eating personalities define your eating issues
* And more in-depth yet highly educative aspects
In summary, the book has got quite a lot to offer and you just have to read it to get all the benefits from it.
The Best Place to Buy the Book
The best place I would encourage you to get the book from is from www.amazon.com because of its reputation and the ease of purchase with it. Also, there is a workbook on intuitive eating book which will help you with reading the book and making the advice practical for you. Moreover, it saves time since you get to order the book and other products you were planning today without having to struggle.
My Personal Thoughts on the Book
I find the book to give a very workable approach to loosing weight that has got higher chances of success than other strategies like starvation which lead to binging and other unhealthy eating habits.
Personally, I would say that learning to know your eating habits and tweaking them as you eat everyday is a good way to gain self control and is also safe for your body and health as a whole.
So I would encourage you to get the book, master intuitive eating and put into practice. It is going to benefit you in the long run.
And that’s it with the book.
